Preserve

It has been announced that The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded a grant of £15,706 to Bolton Catholic Musical & Choral Society to preserve their Past & Future.

The society has been in existence since 1935 and with three thriving sections, it was felt that a great deal of it’s history would be lost if an account of past productions, individuals & anecdotes were not captured. Chairman Patrick Unsworth & Treasurer Anthony Wilkinson are behind the initiative and are delighted that the award will allow them to now produce a book and DVD hopefully providing many happy memories and insights to both past and future members and audiences alike.

Patrick said “This is an exciting project that will involve many people from the society (past & present) including our Youth group. The vast majority of our audiences and members are unaware of BCMCS’ history, from it’s origins as St Edmunds Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society to the present day. Thanks to this grant, the heritage will be maintained and accessible to all. There are many people who we have lost contact with over the years but who may have a wealth of knowledge that is useful to our goal. I urge them to contact me either by telephone or email and I’d be delighted to talk to them”
