MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT, lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people—Oh, and did we mention the bevy of beautiful showgirls?
Bursting with unforgettable songs, absurd humor, and zany characters, this musical is a rollicking celebration of all things Monty Python. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, and its success continued with two West End runs and a recent Broadway revival. With its laugh-out-loud moments and unforgettable anthem “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT is a gloriously entertaining journey that will leave audiences in stitches from start to finish.
BCMCS Musicals
BCMCS Musicals are one of the foremost amateur theatre groups in the wider Bolton area. We strive to present our shows to the highest standards possible.
Rehearsals for BCMCS Musicals take place at Bolton Parish Church Hall. The rooms we use are warm and bright and welcoming and the hall has ample parking spaces within the grounds of the Parish Church. Refreshments are always available.
Welcome Meetings and auditions for the forthcoming production are held in March or April with rehearsals starting in May, initially on Friday evenings, but additional rehearsals are organised nearer the dates of the show. The shows are usually presented at the Albert Halls in Bolton with the use of professional lighting, sound systems, and sometimes, specialist scenery. The hall has a seating capacity of 500 and is used throughout the year by professional touring shows.
Membership fees are required to be paid by members. The amount depends on the costs of obtaining a performing licence for the show being presented, the hire of vocal scores/ librettos, costumes, insurance and the hire of rehearsal premises.
From SISTER ACT (Winner of 2 NODA awards) to OLIVER! (Also Winner of 2 NODA awards), to SHREK – THE MUSICAL (which played to sell-out audiences), and more recently to CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, our shows are as varied as can be.
New members are always welcome whether acting onstage or if you prefer, backstage, helping with the many and varied jobs necessary in preparation for our shows! There are no auditions needed if you want to appear onstage.
